Introducing The Memphis Belles {The Sisters of Swing}

Sometimes the world seems like a very small place. I was in Cyprus shooting a destination wedding when I got chatting to Claire, lead singer of the vintage-style swing group performing that evening. I asked her where she was from, “Near Milton Keynes” she replied. “Oh, I’m just outside MK. Whereabouts are you?” – turns out she lives about 15 mins from me!
After the wedding that night, we carried on chatting a bit more over a glass or two of wine, and ended up staying up til about 3am, talking, swapping stories, and laughing together. The next day, we got the flight home together – an emergency on board with one of the wedding party meant that, after an emergency landing, Claire and I had to stay on board after everyone else disembarked, and then we were fast-tracked through Heathrow with the poorly guest to meet her anxious, waiting husband (she was fine, but it was touch-and-go for a while). My husband met us at the airport and dropped Claire home. We chatted the next day, and have pretty much been very close friends ever since.
So, when she told me that she’d found two perfect girls to join the band, I couldn’t wait to meet them and take some publicity shots. We had SO MUCH FUN doing these! Tori and Laura are perfect additions to The Belles, and I really hope that I get to work with the “new” lineup at a wedding one day soon.
